LUX Property Group Announces Major Progress on Former Marina Bay Lombok Development as Construction Set to Resume
LUX Property Group has announced significant progress in resolving a range of legacy development, planning and compliance matters following its assumption of full management control of the former Marina Bay Lombok project in October last year, paving the way for construction activities to recommence in the coming months.
Since taking full management control, the LUX Property Group team has worked closely with local government authorities, consultants, engineers and legal advisors to ensure the development proceeds in accordance with government requirements, planning approvals and environmental regulations.
According to LUX Property Group, much of the work over the past several months has involved reviewing and refining development plans, addressing legacy project matters, rebuilding stakeholder confidence and establishing a clear pathway for future development.
“We are very excited about the progress that has been made,” a spokesperson for LUX Property Group said.
“Since assuming full management control last October, our focus has been on ensuring the project is positioned on a strong foundation for long-term success. We have worked closely with the Lombok government and relevant authorities to ensure everything is undertaken properly and in accordance with approvals and regulations.
“Most of the legacy issues identified following the management transition have now been resolved or are nearing completion. After an extensive period focused on compliance, planning, stakeholder engagement and regulatory requirements, we are now preparing to move into the next stage of development.”
The company said key priorities have included ensuring permits are correctly submitted, approvals are properly obtained and development plans comply with coastal and environmental requirements.
“As part of that process, we have been ensuring beachfront areas comply with setback requirements, including maintaining the required 30-metre coastal setback and rectifying a number of legacy site issues identified during our review process,” the spokesperson said.
LUX Property Group believes these steps represent a major milestone in restoring confidence in the development and positioning it for long-term success.
“The dream is still well and truly alive. After a lengthy period spent resolving legacy matters, working through regulatory requirements, rebuilding relationships with stakeholders and ensuring compliance with government requirements, we are now excited to return our focus to what matters most: construction, delivery and creating a world-class beachfront community in Lombok.”
With the majority of these matters now addressed, civil works are expected to recommence shortly, with full construction activities anticipated to resume within approximately eight to ten weeks, subject to final approvals and scheduling.
“The project is now moving forward on a much stronger foundation than before,” the spokesperson said.
“Our focus is on responsible development, proper governance, compliance, transparency and delivering a world-class community that benefits both local residents and international investors.”
The company also confirmed that the development has been rebranded as Nesara Bay City under the new management team.
According to LUX Property Group, the rebranding was undertaken to establish a distinct identity for the project’s next chapter and provide clarity regarding the project’s ownership, management and official sales channels.
“The rebranding to Nesara Bay City reflects the evolution of the project and its future direction,” the spokesperson said.
“Our priority is ensuring transparency and providing investors with certainty regarding the project’s ownership, management and official communications.”
The spokesperson said the Marina Bay City name remains an important part of the project’s history, noting that the Marina Bay City trademark and official website marinabay.city are owned and controlled by LUX Property Group.
“The acquisition and transition of the project by LUX Property Group was widely reported last October, and we remain committed to protecting the project’s brand, reputation and the interests of our stakeholders as we move forward into this next phase of development.”
The development, formerly known as Marina Bay Lombok, has since undergone substantial review, restructuring and planning refinement as part of its transition into a new era.
LUX Property Group says interest in Bali and Lombok continues to grow as international buyers seek alternatives to increasingly expensive global cities and pursue greater lifestyle flexibility.
“We are seeing growing demand from expatriates, retirees, entrepreneurs, digital professionals and investors looking for lifestyle destinations that offer excellent value and quality of life,” the spokesperson said.
“With rising living costs in locations such as Australia, Singapore and Dubai, more people are looking at Bali and Lombok as attractive long-term destinations.”
The spokesperson noted that ongoing geopolitical uncertainty in various parts of the world has also contributed to increased interest in Indonesia as a destination for living, investing and retirement.
“People want security, community, affordability and opportunity. Bali and Lombok continue to offer all of those things while maintaining their unique cultural identity, natural beauty and welcoming environment.”
LUX Property Group believes Lombok is entering a period of substantial growth, supported by increasing infrastructure investment, expanding tourism and growing international awareness.
“We look forward to working with government, local communities, investors and stakeholders as the project continues to evolve,” the spokesperson said.
“Our vision is to help create a development that contributes positively to Lombok’s future and becomes a destination that residents and investors can be proud to be part of for many years to come.
“After overcoming the challenges of the past, we believe the project’s best days are ahead. Momentum is returning, construction is preparing to recommence and we are excited about the future.
“As construction recommences, we look forward to delivering on the vision that attracted so many people to the project in the first place. Lombok has an incredibly bright future, and we are proud to play a role in helping create one of Indonesia’s most exciting new beachfront communities.”
